This is skilled work in the repair and maintenance of a variety of automobiles, trucks, and heavy and light automotive equipment.
Work involves inspecting and diagnosing the condition of automotive equipment and completing repairs as needed. Work is reviewed by the vehicle maintenance superintendent through periodic inspections and the performance of equipment after repair.

- Diagnoses, adjusts, repairs and services a wide variety of automotive equipment, gold carts and lawn maintenance equipment.
- Perform repairs to brakes, engines, lawn equipment and various repairs as required.
- Performs preventive maintenance including oil changes, tire rotation, safety equipment checks, greasing and lubricating.
- Works closely with City of Conyers Shop manger to ensure accurate maintenance records and service documentation are maintained.
- Operates various types of shop equipment, machinery and specialized tools.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of shop and surrounding area.
- Performs related Work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Completion of a standard high school diploma, GED or equivalent from a regionally or nationally accredited school.
Licenses(s): Valid Georgia Commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred but not required for this position.
Experience: Experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- The tools, materials, methods and procedures used in maintaining and repairing automotive equipment
- Metal fabrication and welding
- Occupational hazards and safety precautions
Skill and Abilities:
- Skill in repair of diesel and gas engines.
- Skill in inspection of various types of equipment and the determination of the type of repair needed.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction.
- Ability communicate using a two (2) way radio.
- Ability to operate manual clutch and transmission vehicles.
- Abliity to tolerate environments containing dust, dirt, grease, smoke, fumes and chemicals.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- The employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk. walk and stoop,
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to maneuver in low clearance areas.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including cold and high temperatures. The employee must be able to climb ladders and withstand heights, work in confined spaces, tolerate environments containing dust and dirt.
Lifting Requirements: The employee must frequently life and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
