This position is responsible for providing a wide range of HR support with an emphasis on recruiting and administering special projects.

Provide administrative support to the Payroll & Benefits Supervisor and Director of Human Resources.

Process documentation and prepare reports relating to employment activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, etc.).

Complete new hire paperwork and associated procedures to ensure the efficient processing of new employees.

Respond to inquiries from employees in a timely manner, regarding policies and procedures, job searches, and HR services while maintaining standards of confidentiality and privacy, in accordance with the, federal, state, and local regulations, and any other protected documentation.

Manage the efficient flow of the workload processes including employment records related to hiring, transfer, leaves of absence, promotion, and termination in the appropriate databases.

Oversee the processing of employment verifications and unemployment claims.

Conduct new hire orientation sessions to educate employees on City systems, policies, and procedures.

Assist with recruitment process for all open positions such as process employment requisitions posting jobs, prep applicant packets, and screen applications, schedule interviews, manage interview process, follow up with candidates, and forward rejection letters.

Ensure job descriptions and postings are up to date and accurate; create job postings from job descriptions.

Schedules, coordinates, and maintains employee training classes and records.

Coordinates the filing of automobile and general liability claims and work with those involved (insurance carrier, vehicle maintenance, employee, affected person(s), etc.) to get a complete and through resolution.

Act as back-up to process bi-weekly payroll.
Minimum Qualifications
Licenses(s): Valid Georgia Driver's License
Education: Completion of a standard high school diploma, GED or equivalent from a regionally or nationally accredited school. An Associates' or Bachelors' Degree with a concentration in human resources, psychology, business or related field is preferred.
Experience: Two (2) or more years of experience in an advanced customer service, clerical position, office management or human resources.
Certifications: Professional in Human Resources (PHR) from HRCI or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) from the Society of Human Resource Managers; and/or Certified Human Resources Manager (CHRM) from the Carl Vinson Institute of Government is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Personal Computer and other equipment associated with a general office environment (copier, telephone, fax, etc.)
- Intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Excellent problem solving, verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
- Basic understanding of employment laws and practices.
- Maintain highly confidential nature of human resources work.
- Experience developing recruiting strategies.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
Physical Requirements

When performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; stoop, bend and sit. This job requires the employee to lift files, open filing cabinets and therefore, lift at least 25 pounds infrequently.
