The Social Media Specialist develops and implements a content and engagement strategy that promotes the city's brand and increases awareness of the city's social media platforms and interaction with constituents, customers and visitors. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Public Relations and Tourism. Work requires independent judgment and initiative. Work includes assistance in planning and attending events.

- Leads an integrated approach to create dynamic campaigns and manage postings across all social media platforms for the City of Conyers, Georgia International Horse Park, Cherokee Run Golf Club, Olde Town Conyers and Visit Conyers, GA to spark engagement among audiences, tailoring publications based on knowledge of each platform, audience, individual entity's branding, etc.
- Works up-to-date on changes in all social media platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness
- Develops an optimal posting schedule utilizing content calendars, considering web traffic and customer engagement metrics.
- Ensure the digital media presence and content promote City Council and departmental priorities, increase public awareness, and enhance community confidence and trust.
- Responds to comments promptly and monitors customer reviews and tags.
- Regularly generates platform metrics, benchmarks and other analyses to validate social media strategy and efforts.
- Adhere to the city's style guide and use of appropriate voice for each entity, ensuring posts are high-quality and error-free.
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor degree in communications, marketing, journalism, social media management, digital media, public relations or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses(s): Valid Georgia Driver’s License.
Experience: Two (2) or more years' experience in responsible public information management, public relations, media relations, journalism, marketing, communications, Internet technology or desktop publishing.
Certification(s): N/A
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: An incumbent/applicant may have any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job as long as the incumbent/applicant can show competencies in each.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with emphasis in grammar, composition, proofreading and editing
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse internal teams and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Familiarity with social media platforms and strategies for community engagement
- Proven experience in social media management, photography and/or videography
- Strong technical skills in graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Indesign, etc.) and various tools and platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, Hootsuite, Google Analytics, etc.)
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and customers.
- Knowledge of all city departments, their functions and contact information, departmental policies and procedures.
- Ability to drive a standard equipped vehicle.
