The Business Development Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing initiatives that foster business and community growth and engagement. This role involves collaborating with local businesses, stakeholders, developing programs to enhance community well-being, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. - Develop and implement business and community development initiatives that align with organizational goals.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with community leaders, local government, businesses, and nonprofit organizations.
- Plan and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and outreach programs to encourage active participation.
- Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and allocate resources effectively.
- Assist the Downtown Development Authority of Conyers with initiatives and business relations.
- Collaborate with the Conyers-Rockdale Economic Development Council (CREDC) to facilitate business growth and development.
- Assist existing and potential businesses with navigating the City permit process.
- Develop procedures to ensure the City is meeting the needs of the business community and will make the City more competitive.
- Develop business relationships to facilitate better business practices in the City of Conyers.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and updates for internal and external stakeholders.
- Address community concerns and implement solutions to enhance engagement and development in collaboration with City leadership.
- Promote programs through social media, newsletters, and other communication channels.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, grant requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Attends official City meetings and committee meetings as required.
- Assists other departments when needed.
- Performs other duties and related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Licenses(s): Valid Georgia Driver’s License, Class C.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 2 + years of experience in business development, community engagement, program coordination, or related roles.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse community members.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with businesses, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, or grassroots initiatives is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for community events.
- Experience with grant writing and fundraising.
- Knowledge of business and community development principles and best practices.
- Thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, business English and spelling.
- Knowledge of (familiar with) the operations of all City departments.
- Knowledge of the care, maintenance and operation of various office equipment and machinery.
- Skill in the operation of a personal computer and software applications.
- Skill in verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, public officials and the general public.
- Ability to work at a typical desk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Bilingual abilities are an asset.
